Rainbow Mountain - Vinicunca
Daily departures from Cusco at 4:30 am.
Altitude
The trek is classified as category C, which means it is quite long and many sections are at high altitude (5,200 meters or +16,000 feet). We recommend that you have spent at least 3 days in Cusco or at a similar altitude just before undertaking this trek to acclimatize (in case of emergency, we always carry an oxygen tank with us on all treks).
Hiking experience
This hike is not suitable for beginners. If you are a good hiker and have done moderate hiking before, you should do well. You will need good fitness and stamina, as you will hike many steep sections.
Weather
In the higher regions the weather can be quite harsh and snowstorms are not uncommon. When it rains, the mountain can be covered with snow.
